Mad Money for Momma- “my first try”

Hey fellow ladies and Mommas….

How many of you believe that having your own Monthly “Mad Money” is important & even critical for Momma’s Happiness and Well-being?

AND if the answer IS YES…..

What amount of mad money would make YOU happy? $$$$

Here’s my ‘story’….which I’ll call TAKE 1- as it was my first attempt at having my own “MAD MONEY”.

Back in the late 1980’s I was a single mom working part time in sales at a local health club when a friend approached me and convinced me with multiple praises that with my outgoing personality, number of contacts and sphere of influence that I have- that I would be PERFECT for her home based-woman only company. I don’t recall the details of the conversation much but I recall her saying that with VERY LITTLE TIME OR EFFORT I COULD EARN at least $300 a month- which is what I thought would be IDEAL FOR MY MAD MONEY ACCOUNT. I got excited!

I imagined the good life with ‘extras’ including travel or just plain ol’ MAD MONEY to buy whatever I want without pulling from my tight budget. Hmmm, lunch out more often, a pedicure or manicure, a good bottle of wine, new underwear and bras, a new fitness outfit, etc.

Although I am not a fan of “home parties” -nor do I care a hoot about make up or skin care, the allure of having my own mad money for just me– got me excited. I couldn’t even imagine having money that didn’t have to go towards the typical “gas, food and clothing” or my kids ‘stuff’.

I had NO IDEA how to begin to earn this MAD MONEY but trusted my friend 100% so when she suggested I buy the largest pack (saying I needed product in my ‘make believe store front’ from which to sell from (inventory) I believed that her recommendation to start with a $2400 pack was the BEST way to go! I also was convinced it was the quickest to earning the maximum amount of income in the shortest time. (In my mind, the fewest parties I had to host or travel to homes of others who wished to have a party, the better) I should have known I was doomed at that moment….but I did not.

I remember thinking that there was no way I had that kind of money, but as a young entrepreneur who was “coachable and trainable” (the ideal in this industry!) I actually took her advice and went to a local bank, took out a loan to start my “home based business”. I didn’t even have credit back then as I had always paid cash for everything so my ex-husband co-signed the loan.

When my BUSINESS arrived by truck- all I remember was the size of the BOX!!!! – it was huge, and most of the items in it were the color pink!

My friend, Barb, was good at what she did and helped me with two of my own ‘parties’. We did the facial thing around the tables, dabbled with colors and then she handed out the order forms to all the guests- my friends- who were there. To my surprise, people bought things and some bought quite a lot of ‘trinkets’ to make themselves beautiful! I think I earned at least $200 per party of a total of $400 PROFIT. WOW, Mad Money for Momma had come true.

I was in heaven…. until the reality hit- I did not LIKE what it took to be successful with this kind of home business. I remember wishing I was selling something health related, like fitness equipment, or fitness clothing instead. It didn’t take long for me to decide it was not for me so I sold off half of the inventory at my cost to friends and shipped the remaining product back to the company for a partial refund. Whew- I was done with THAT experience!!!!

True be told, I wasn’t mad at my friend Barb. She went on to be quite successful at HER home based business, winning “pins” and jewelry and even trips…. working part time. And I was happy for her. But this experience gave me a taste of what was possible! I got hooked on the idea of MAD MONEY FOR MOMMA and years later, got involved in a nutritional Network Marketing Company that was a good fit for me…..and I did earn MAD MONEY- only more!!!!

As I look back on my first attempt for MAD MONEY without a traditional JOB I recall how excited I got and I never lost that flame of hope for another way of earning my MAD MONEY.

When I first signed joined this company all I needed to be ecstatic was $300 a month. That’s it! And today, with decades of knowledge under my belt, and the industry of Network Marketing allowing this to be possible, I enjoy helping other MOMMAS out there create their mad money.

I Read the News Today, OH BOY!

I have been enjoying Alan Cohen’s book “A DEEP BREATHE OF LIFE” for around 10+ years. I love the daily messages that offer inspiration. Here is today, July 11th!!!! As I read it I realize a couple of things I have learned to fill my mind with positive things in life…. which saves me from the NEGATIVE VIBES of the world.

I do not watch the News or read the newspaper…especially at the beginning of my day and before I go to bed!

I can’t always believe what I read or even see….so I follow my intuition, my GUT and live a life of congruence and alignment.

JULY 11th

A radio commentator noted that the news we generally receive through the media is “a proctological view of life.” What is presented as the news is a carefully distilled entree of mayhem, culled for commercial ‘saleability’, playing on base fears and sensationalism. Much of the news we receive is not honest, for it is not an accurate reflection of the truth. While the media lets us know that a rape occurs every five minutes, it does not tell us how many acts of kindness occurred in that time. We rarely receive statistics on how many children were brought into the world with delight and appreciation, how many teachers told their students, “You are destined for greatness” how many athletes dug into themselves for the stamina to complete their jogging, how many creditors extended extra grace to their overdue accounts; how many drivers slowed down to allow cars from a side street into the lineup on a main thoroughfare; or how many times anyone said, “I love you.” When the news reflects the whole of life, not just its sordid aspects, it will be honest, serviceful, and worthy of our attention.

If we wish to get more accurate news, we must withdraw our fascination from evil and reinvest it in peace. A San Francisco newspaper published two different versions of a day’s news, one with ta sensational headline about a murder, and the other with a more doesn’t banner about progress in peace talks. The sensational headline outsold the more mellow edition by four to one.

Invest in a better world by placing your attention on what works, rather than what doesn’t. Do not start or end your day by listening to newscasts. Celebrate all the good you hear about, and pray that we learn from our pain and suffering, rather than dwell on it. Make the news of the day better by shining the light of your consciousness on the good, the beautiful, and the true.

“To know how to wait is the great secret of success”- De Maistre

I have adored reading Alan Cohen’s book, “A Deep Breath of LIFE” (Daily Inspiration for Heart-Centered Living”) for the past 10 years. The page I randomly chose today really speaks to my heart- and it is on TIMING.

I believe the universe actually has a good laugh as we humans plan our our lives- from the timing of things we want to have happen, the people involved, etc. I am learning to relax, let go, let GOD, and enjoy the process. Perhaps this too, will speak to you.

All in Timing!

“Do you ever have days or weeks when nothing seems to come together? The people you are looking for are out of town, the product you ordered is delayed, and you get everyone’s answering machine. Finally, you throw your hands up and declare, “I give up- I’m going to a movie!”

That may indeed be the best strategy, for the universe is giving you a message that this is not the right time to try to make anything happen. It may be the perfect time for you to step back and nurture your spirit. If you pay attention to the cycles of your experience, you can make them work for you, rather than letting them overwhelm you.

Periods of nothing coming together are often followed by periods of everything coming together. After a week or month of frustrating attempts to make things happen, suddenly everything clicks; everyone calls back the same day, business deals that were on hold fall into place, and everything that was broken gets fixed.

Universal Timing

It’s as if the universe was laying back to build up momentum for a huge leap forward. Don’t be discouraged. If you’ve done all you can to make something happen, and nothing seems to be coming of it, get the hint. Let go. Turn it over to God. Do something else more rewarding or fun. It’s all in the timing.

Are you on Target for Reach YOUR Goals for the 4th Quarter of 2018? No matter what company or business you are with- will you whistle “Dixie” in December or be caught up with the emotions of disappointment?

Labor Day just passed and for me a great time to reflect on what I have created in the year- especially pertaining to business…. and what kind of results I wish to create in the next 4 months…. until the end of the year- and beyond. My future is important to me!

As I reviewed some of my goals I wrote at the onset of the year and compared them to what I have created I decided to write this blog. This is written for ME and perhaps for anyone else who wants to change your results. My journal in January reminds me NOW, to keep the main thing, just that….the MAIN THING! And in Network Marketing, it is staying in front of people- daily- sharing the products and opportunity…..and collecting their decisions.

So, what will the last 4th months LOOK LIKE for YOUR BUSINESS?

Will you determine your success or will you be the victim of the distractions of life and miss your destination? As many say, you are either driving toward your destination or being moved by the circumstances of life to an unknown destination. Yogi Berra said it best: “If you don’t know where you are going, you will end up somewhere else”.

Five Key Ingredients for Success: Nothing new, but a great reminder!
1. Goals– Know where you are going and determine your target or destination. For myself, that means reaching a certain rank within my company- reaching monetary goals as well as helping team mates achieve their goals.
2. Belief– You’ve got to believe in you, your company, products-but most importantly yourself.
3. Wisdom– You must always seek the wisdom of experience
4. Burning Desire– An attitude to get the job done
5. Time– Life is just like a garden; plant, cultivate and harvest- it’s the cultivation process that causes people stress.

September is a great opportunistic time to reflect, evaluate and reassess one’s goals. Most people, however, are focused on the distractions of life instead of their personal destination…..and let’s face it summer tends to distract even the most dedicated entrepreneurs.
Set your course and know your destination by establishing your goals. What fuels your soul? Wherever you are now- you CAN reach your goals if you stay on course.
S.M.A.R.T. = Goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. In other words, in the goal setting process make sure you use the SMART system.

Reviewing what I SAID I wanted & what I have actually created in 2018- today was a real WAKE UP CALL for me.

Back on track- I will be whistling “DIXIE” in December, will you?
