With the holidays fast approaching, Michelle Lesueur, Director of Product Education and Development of FGXpress shared tips on how to avoid gaining weight during the holidays.

Between the office parties, family events and other social gatherings, it gets pretty difficult to get through the holidays without gaining weight. On average, most people gain between 5-10 pounds between November and January. Many of the foods that we consume during the holidays such as sweets, treats and alcoholic beverages are weight gainers. When you consume these type of treats, your body creates an insulin response every time. When insulin is released, it tends to direct the weight gain towards your mid-section.
Here are some tricks to avoid gaining those pesky holiday pounds:

1. When arriving to a party, first look for food high in protein! This can include turkey, beef, chicken, fish, etc. If the party is mostly going to serve snack foods, have a protein drink such as Thunder or FIXX right before heading to your party. Eat as much protein as you can! FIXX SHAKE

2. Next, look for salad and/or raw vegetables! Remember that raw vegetables are negative calories. It takes more calories to eat, chew and digest than the amount of calories found in most raw vegetables.

By eating protein and vegetables first, you’re cutting the insulin response from treats and high glycemic carbs. Your energy will stay balanced. If you eat like this on a day-to-day basis, you will notice inch and pound loss.

What Did We Eat?

POST Ketopia the following is a typical day of what we ate. We continued to exercise approximately 30 minutes per day and kept well-hydrated with water!

Before Breakfast: (coffee time!)

We began having bullet proof coffee. This is coffee where you add a Tbs. of unsalted grass fed organic butter and high oxtane oil TO your coffee and blend. If you are thinking this sounds crazy then you are not alone- but it IS delicious and a meal unto itself as it is very satisfying and gives you instant brain power! When I first heard of this I thought it would taste horrible…but I was wrong.

A Typical Breakfast: 2-3 eggs, bacon (optional) couple of olives, slice of avocados and slice of cheese (note the high fat choices)

A Typical Lunch: FIXX or Thunder Shake (www.JoysFavorites.com) 1/2 cup of unsweetened almond milk, 1/2 cup water, 2 Tbs. heavy cream, 1/4 avocado and blend! (I also add 1 drop of peppermint essential oil to mine so it has a peppermint patty flavor!)

Snacks throughout the Day: Cheese stick or slice of cheese, celery with almond butter or lettuce wrap with feta cheese, black olives and dab of pesto, nuts.

A Typical Dinner: Small piece of chicken or fish on the grill or grass fed organic hamburger. Leafy green salad with blue cheese, feta cheese, celery, avocado and black olives- oils and salad dressing (zero sugar and carbs). Occasional steam veggies or zucchini on the grill.

Believe it or not, we are never hungry eating this way and are both surprised and delighted that our clothes continue to get looser. jeans

I can only answer this from MY experience! I found that adhering to the 10-Day Ketopia program was very easy. I didn’t have any cravings or hunger and my energy was high. Some people experience a little discomfort in the first couple of days due to detox (also known as Keto-Flu) but I did not have any discomfort whatsoever!
